Hi! I’m Faith, a 24 year old wife and mama. I am married to my high school sweetheart Matthew & am a new stay at home mama to our precious baby girl Avary. We are a young military family, living a thousand miles from where we grew up, just learning about life, love & parenthood. Life is crazy, but oh so good!
I spent the better part of my early twenties taking college courses, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I kept going back and forth between wanting to do the things I was passionate about and doing the “responsible” thing like getting a college degree. I studied American Sign Language for 2 years and got an associates degree in that, then I studied Early Childhood Ed for 2 years. I loved my experience with both, but something just didn’t feel right. . . It didn’t seem to fit me the way I felt a “lifelong career” should. I kept searching for something I was truly passionate about. When I became pregnant with Avary, a deep-rooted dream came to the forefront of my mind and passion started building. I wanted to write. I wanted to blog! I started reading so many blogs when I was pregnant and it fueled a desire to share MY heart and MY life. I didn’t take the plunge into blogging until a few months after having my baby girl. I entered the world of being a stay-at-home mom and everything about my life changed! I quickly realized how powerful blogging was for me. It helped give me a little extra sense of purpose after leaving the workforce and not having that typical 9-5 job. It helped me feel connected to other mamas-when a lot of times-motherhoood can feel so lonely. It also allowed me to share my heart on this crazy adventure of life, love, and being a mama.
My life has been forever changed since the day we began growing the nest, and that is where this blog and the name came about. My hope and vision here at Growing the Nest is to create an inspiring place for mamas to know that they are not alone in their journey of motherhood. That there are women-just like them-traveling through this beautiful season of life. I want this to be a space where we talk about the beauty of marriage, and what it’s like to be a wife and homemaker. I want to highlight the importance of family-your babies, your tribe, your people, YOUR nest.
